Zinc Phosphate Coatings

 

Zinc phosphate is preffered in case of requirement of higher corrosion resistance than iron phosphate. It can be used as base for paintings (especially for powder coatings), before cold drawing / cold forming of steel and prior application of protective oil / lubrication.

 

For underpaint zinc phosphate coatings, coating weight varies between 2 - 6 g/m. There is no need of higher coatings weights. Coating weight of zinc phosphate layer before cold drawing / cold deformation operations of steel must be higher relatively, it varies in the range of 5 - 15 g/m. For the coating of iron / steel parts to be treated with oil or wax, coating weight has the maximum level between 15 - 35 g/m.

PHORYL Z 26 - Immersion Zinc Phosphate

It is a easy-to-use, liquid one component product, used without any addition of accelerator. Suitable for iron, steel and castings. Provides high corrosion protection before electrostatic powder coating. Zinc phosphate layer weight over the base metal is between 2 - 4 g/m. When used as underpaint coating, it provides high corrosion resistance and excellent paint bonding ability. It deposits thin and acceptable degree of homogenous layer of phosphate coating on the surface, hence there is no need of activation stage before phosphating. Phosphating bath has to be made of stainless steel or polypropylene, these materials are durable against phosphoric acid. 60-70 C degree of temperature is enough to obtain zinc phosphate coating. Time duration of coating is between 5 - 10 minutes. As a result of phosphate coating sludge accumulation occurs in the bath. It must be decanted periodically.

 

PHORYL Z 36 - Immersion Zinc Phosphate

PHORYL  Z 36 is a liquid one component product, used without any addition of accelerator. It is a under paint type zinc phosphating chemical product providing excellent paint adherence and corrosion resistance under electrostatic powder coatings or wet paintings. Coating weight on iron, steel or zinc (galvanized) surfaces varies between 3 - 4 g/m.  Despite it has a thin layer of coating, it is recommended to use an activation bath in the phosphating line to obtain more uniform coating. Material of phosphate coating bath has to be made of stainless steel or polypropylene which are durable against phosphoric acid. 60-75 C degree of temperature is enough to obtain a proper coating. Application time can be adjusted in between 5 - 10 minutes according to bath concentration and temperature. However PHORYL Z 36 is a low sludge generating product, accumulated sludge must be removed periodically.

 

PHORYL Z 100 - Immersion Zinc Phosphate

PHORYL  Z 36 is formulated for iron and steel as a underpaint type liquid zinc phosphating chemical product used with accelerator addition. Phosphate layer weight on the surface is between 2 - 4 g/m. Suitable for subsequent powder coatings or wet paintings. Treated metal surface has a very good paint adherence and corrosion protection. Provides thin crystalline coating, therefore there is no need of activating operation before phosphate coating. Because of acidic nature of the product, treatment bath has to be made of stainless steel or polypropylene. Accelerator is used to reduce the iron content of the bath. Most important feature of the product PHORYL Z 100 is the ability of very low sludge formation. Phosphating operation can be run in the range of  65-75 C degree with a time duration of  5 - 10 minutes.

 

PHORYL Z 14 - Immersion Zinc Phosphate

It is a very easy-to-use liquid product used with accelerator addidion. Suitable for the treatment of iron, steel and zinc (galvanize). Coating weight on the surface is around 4 g/m. Provides high corrosion resistance under paintings. Despite it has a thin layer of coating, it is recommended to use an activation bath in the phosphating line to obtain more uniform coating. Phosphating bath has to be made of stainless steel or polypropylene, these materials are durable against phosphoric acid. 60-70 C degree of temperature is enough to obtain a proper coating. Application time can be adjusted in between 5 - 8 minutes according to total acid value and temperature. In the course of time, sludge accumulation occurs in the bath. It must be removed periodically.

 

PHORYL Z S 20 - Spray Zinc Phosphate

PHORYL Z S 20 is a spay application liquid product suitable for the pretreatment of iron and steel. The treatment provides 2-3 g/m of coating that is excellent for bonding of paints and corrosion resistance. There must be an activation stage just before phosphating to make phosphate crystals thinner and compact. Use of accelerator reduces the iron content of the bath that is developed in the course of time. Spray pressure for PHORYL Z S 20 is between 1,0 - 1,6 bar and treatment temperature is between 50 - 60 C. Time duration of 2 - 3 minutes will be enough for a proper coating. As a result of coating, phosphate sludge piles up at the bottom of the bath and it must be decanted priodically. Phosphating bath has to be made of stainless steel or polypropylene.

 

PHORYL ZT 25 - Tri-cation Immersion Zinc Phosphate

It is a trication type liquid zinc phophate coating product used with free acid optimizer and accelerator. A well prepared surface can be obtained on iron, steel, casting or zinc (galvanized) metals. Make up and additive chemicals are separate products. There has to be activation bath prior to phosphating. Phosphate layer weight on the surface varies between 1,5 - 3 g/m. It is a underpaint zinc phosphating product, generally preferred prior to electro-painting, provides superior corrosion resistance and paint adherence. It has a relatively lower operating tempreature in the range of 45 - 55 C with a treating time of 3 - 8 minutes. Because of acidic nature like all phosphate coating solutions, treatment bath has to be made of stainless steel or polypropylene.

 

PHORYL ZT 27 - Tri-cation Spray Zinc Phosphate

It is a trication type liquid zinc phophate coating product used with free acid optimizer and accelerator. A well prepared surface can be obtained on iron, steel, casting or zinc (galvanized) metals. Make up and additive chemicals are separate products. There has to be activation bath prior to phosphating. Phosphate layer weight on the surface varies between 1,5 - 3 g/m. It is a underpaint zinc phosphating product, generally preferred prior to electro-painting, provides superior corrosion resistance and paint adherence. It has a relatively lower operating tempreature in the range of 45 - 55 C with a treating time of 2 - 3 minutes which is shorter then immersion type. Spray pressure must be in the range of 1,0 - 1,6 bar. Because of acidic nature, treatment bath has to be made of stainless steel or polypropylene.

 

PHORYL Z 29 - Heavy Zinc Phosphate

PHORYL Z 29 is a heavy type zinc phosphate coating process composed of two components for the coating of steel, iron and especially castings. Make up and additive chemicals are used separately. The aim of the treatment is to have thicker crystalline coating, so there is no need of activation rinse before phosphating. To obtain a coating weight on the surface between 20 - 35 g/m, temperaure of the treatment solution is rised up to 90 - 95 C and total acid arranged around 80 ml. Treatment  time can be optimized between 5 - 15 minutes according to bath concentration and temperature. Metal parts that are treated with protective oils after phosphating becomes very resistant aganist corrosion even in very oxidizing contitions.  

 

PHORYL Z 84 - Wire Drawing Zinc Phosphate

PHORYL Z 84 is a zinc phosphate coating process used before cold drawing / cold forming operation of steel wire. It is a immersion type product like all phosphate coatings for wire drawings and is used with accelerator to reduce the growing iron content in the phosphating bath. It is formulated for the treatment of low carbon wires. The coating allows fast drawings and protects drawing dies from excessive wearing, thus service life is prolonged. Just before phosphating, steel wire coils have to be rinsed in activation bath which has an  important role to obtain uniform coating. Use of neutralizing provides extra corrosion resistance along with better soap holding ability. It is recommended to use reactive soap in the last stage of phosphating line. Coating weight varies between 7 - 9 g/m according to total acid value of the phosphate coating solution and treating time of 5 - 8 minutes at  60 - 70 C degree.

 

PHORYL Z 86 - Wire Drawing Zinc Phosphate

PHORYL Z 86 is a zinc phosphate coating process used before cold drawing operation of low carbon steel wires. It is a immersion type product suitable for the wires to be multiple drawn. There is no use of accelerator in this process, therefore iron content of the bath grows in the course of time. After reaching maximum concentration of iron, life of the bath expires and a new phosphate coating bath must be prepared. Wire coils have to be rinsed in activation bath. A separate neutralizing treatment provides extra corrosion resistance along with better soap holding ability. Use of reactive soap is recommended especially while working on wires to be drawn only once. Coating weight varies between 12 - 14 g/m, treating time of 5 - 8 minutes at  60 - 70 C degree.

 

PHORYL Z 87 - Wire Drawing Zinc Phosphate

PHORYL Z 87 is a zinc phosphate coating process suitable before cold drawing of high carbon steel wires. Faster drawings and wear protection of the drawing dies can be obtained with the aid of the phosphate coating. Accelerator is entered into phosphating bath to reduce the iron content. Before phosphating, wires have to be treated in activation bath for a uniform compact coating. Neutralizing treatment provides extra corrosion protection along with better soap tacking. Use of reactive soap is recommended while working on wires to be drawn only once. In the PHORYL Z 87 process coating weight varies between 6 - 8 g/m with a treating time of 5 - 8 minutes at  70 - 80 C degree.

 

PHORYL Z 83 - Tube Drawing Zinc Phosphate

PHORYL Z 83 is a immersion type zinc phosphate coating process used prior to cold drawing of metal tubes. Make up and additive chemicals are used separately. Before phosphate coating, steel tubes have to be rinsed in activation bath which has an  important role to obtain comapct homogenous coating. Reactive soap treatment must be employed after phosphating. PHORYL Z 83 process deposites a coating on steel tubes between 3 - 5 g/m at 70 - 80 C degree.
